Born in 1950, at the beginning of the baby boom, he was raised during the innocent days of the 1950’s, when optimism reined and he, like the other children in his family’s Bellevue Forest neighborhood, ranged the open spaces behind houses, playing football and capture the flag until late into the dusk and it was time to wander home and be told that his mother had “almost” called the police. Christopher Allen Carley died of pneumonia on January 15, 2014. He was born the second son of John W. and Alice U. Carley in Fort Bragg, N.C. on January 31, 1950.
Growing up as military child, he moved all over the country and also lived in Germany. Chris Carley graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington, Va. He later attended the American College in Paris, France and the University of Denver in Colorado from 1968 to 1971. He worked as a disc jockey at the Universiy of Denver radio station.
