YHS '68 Classmates -- Please click on the"Add Your Profile," box below, and write a little information about yourself.  Everyone loves photos!  Adding "then" and "now"photos to your profile will help classmates to recognize you at the big event.

If you need help adding your profile, click on the "Contact Us" tab and we will assist you.

To add your Classmate Profile, you will create a Username and Password, so none of your friends has unauthorized fun with your profile -- but don't forget to hit "the submit" button to save your information!  Also, you can edit your information (tap on the "edit your profile" button.)

This website does not share your personal information including your home & email addresses, or phone numbers, but it does permit other classmates to contact you privately, without revealing your email address on the website.

This website operates in a distinctly different way from Facebook. So don’t expect to be bombarded with emails every time there is a change. The Reunion Committee, however, will occasionally send updates and news to you about the reunion events as they evolve. But please check back on your own to catch up with new classmate profiles, photos and other news.

Michael Lenox

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Occupation: Teacher
Comment: After graduating from the University of Richmond I migrated south and started a business in Miami, FL..  25 years later, life and family necessitated a change. I became a teacher and special education administrator. I'm now living in Lakeland, FL., teaching a small class of middle school students with intellectual disabilities (my "now" picture was taken for the 2017 yearbook.... and NO the broken arm is not part of Mr. Lenox's classroom management procedures). I married Pam in 2007 and between us we have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Kudos to the reunion committee, your hard work shows!

Comment: Husband and son in Trondheim,Norway.  Daughters in San Antonio, Texas, Arlington,Virginia and Zurich, Switzerland.  Lots of travel!  Would love to contact Susan Hill (married Al Nichols) if anyone has her information.  I was planning on coming, but my daughter who lives in Arlington is moving to Amsterdam for 3 years and leaving in August!  But I was just there and am amazed at the change in the high school.

I do have great memories of biking in the Amish area of Pennsylvania with hostel club and seeing lots in the DC  area with the humanities class.

Phil Louer

Marital status: Married
Children: 3
Occupation: General Contractor
Comment: After a fufilling high school career I attended Va Tech, along with a fair number of other YHS alumni.  Along the way I fell in love with the stunning, transformative beauty of the southern Appalachian mountains, and gradually adapted to a rural small town life style, buying land, raising gardens and riding horses.  During the day I build houses for people and in the evening I roughhouse with my two young daughters, 7 and 9.  I also have a 33 year old son from my first marriage, who lives in Denver.

I am looking forward to interacting with many 1968 alumni, and I will miss the many friends who have since departed.

Comment:

It is difficult to summarize the past 50 years since graduation from Yorktown.  I am blessed that many of my dreams have been realized in ways I never thought possible.  My most important blessing is Scott, my beloved husband of 36 years. It was bashert that we met singing in a professional quartet in Manhattan.

Immediately after receiving my Bachelor of Music degree in voice, I returned to northern Virginia for an opera apprenticeship at Wolf Trap and then moved to The Big Apple.  After much practicing and many auditions later, I performed as soprano soloist at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and other major venues.  I was fortunate to sing operatic roles with regional and Canadian companies and perform under the touring wing of Houston Grand Opera and New York City Opera.  Between opera, recitals and concert performances, I found a wonderful part-time administrative position at The Rockefeller University where I continue to work.

After two years of study, Scott and I became Jews by Choice on our 20thwedding anniversary and remarried Jewishly ten years later.  Assisting our clergy and as volunteer members of the Shiva Minyan Corps, we lead services to offer comfort to families in their time of sorrow and loss.  Converting to Judaism has been a life-changing experience and one of the best decisions we ever made.

We have traveled to Bermuda, Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain,as well as to Israel on a congregational trip led by our senior rabbi.

Giving back to the communityfor over a dozen years a dear friend and I have been presenting musical programs at senior residences and nursing homes throughout Manhattan.

Thank you to the diligent members of the 50thReunion Committee!

Ann Marlow (Gurney)

Occupation: Retired Extension Agent
Comment: I'm excited about reconnecting with all of you after so many years, at our upcoming 50th Reunion, and look forward to joining the planning team!

After I graduated from Virginia Tech in 1972 in Clothing & Textiles, I started my career with Virginia Cooperative Extension, which lasted 30 years, before taking an early retirement in 2002.  My husband, Ron and I have been married for 28 years and have one son, Ryan who lives in Blacksburg.  We stay active in retirement, enjoying travel, spending time with family and friends, and volunteering in the Fairfax Station/Burke/Clifton community and church.  My most passionate volunteer work is serving with the Northern VA Therapeutic Riding Program and with Tea Ministry.  I've also been an avid jogger for years, but lately my morning exercise routine has been more speed-walking!

Looking forward to catching up with you all at our 50th in 2018!
