I only attended Yorktown till February of 10th grade, but went through Jamestown and Williamsburg with many of you. When my family left Arlington in 1966, we did a whirlwind global tour, living in Iran, Switzerland, England and Trinidad. I finished with a year of school in Boston (1969-70) and that summer moved to Ottawa, Canada and got married. That marriage ended in divorce and in 1980 I married my husband Paul. We are still living in Ottawa. We have four children and are looking forward to the arrival of our first grandchild in October. I have kept in touch with Nancy Roche and Evan and Charlotte Robinson. Also, my sister Eileen is good friends with Pam Stewart, so I still feel a connection to Arlington. Eileen lives in Alexandria and we try to get down to visit her once or twice a year. She thinks the end of September would be the perfect time for our next visit so perhaps I'll see you at the Bar Night! I've had fun reading the profiles. |

I met my first husband the first day I arrived at college and we were married in December, 1969. He passed away in September of 2002. My sons were still teenagers at the time since we had waited eleven years to start a family. I remarried six years later. I managed to get both of my sons through high school, college, marriage and now they are starting families of their own. I have four delightful grandsons, 6,2, 6 months and a new born as of July 25, 2018.
Professionally, I specialized in working with students having reading difficulties. This lead to developing a reading program for early readers, training professionals in early reading techniques and teaching graduate school. I also started my own business after I retired so that I could provide professional development to teachers and received contracts from publishing companies to represent their reading materials in the state of Maryland.
I am now completely retired. My husband is a pilot and we travel a great deal both within the US and abroad.
I’m very excited about our 50th reunion. I attended the 20th reunion, so it has been almost 30 years since I have connected with anyone in our class. Thank you to those who have organized this. |

After college at Mary Washington, I worked as social worker, married, then stayed home with our children for a few years. I returned to paid employment, served as a substitute teacher, then was a workforce development professional for my last 10 years of work. I have always volunteered and continue to serve in multiple capacities in my church and community. I coordinated a ministry with adults with special needs for 28 years, and did conference leading and writing for Baptists from 1988 - 2000. I still sing in church and community choirs and ensembles. My husband of 42 years does the same, as well as serving church and community in other ways. We enjoy seeing our three grown children and three grandchildren when we can, and have fun doing social ballroom dancing weekly. P.S. : Remember "The Six of Us" folk group? |

Thank you so much to those who are organizing our 50th Reunion!! After high school, I graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration and became a Computer Programmer. Then I was hired into the Audit Division of the Riggs National Bank in D.C. as an EDP Auditor. Financial institutions were some of the first to be worried about computer security. As the cyber security field expanded, I moved to Denver and audited banks in Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, and California. Returned to D.C. and worked in the banking and accounting fields. Later, I did some hospice work and some taxes in Montgomery County, MD. Ed Campbell and I were married for 30 years and raised 3 sons. All of our sons graduated from VA Tech. Ryan is married and working in Australia as a Mining Engineer. Tim is a Product Manager for an IT company in Denver, CO. Sadly, in 2003, we lost Craig, our eldest son. The other 2 are successful and happy. We just wish we could see more of them! And, I would like to have grandchildren!! I've been fortunate to travel to China, Ireland, Israel, Egypt and most of Europe. Also several trips to visit my brother, Rich Oiseth (YHS'67). Rich now is retired in a great home on the Olympic Peninsula in Port Townsend, WA. He was a sucessful IT exec for Rational Software and IBM. I retired in 2013 and moved to Lewes, DE. Bruce Martin and I met in our church and married in April, 2017. We honeymooned in Paris. I sold my home in Lewes and bought one in Stowe, VT where we can bike and ski 5 months each year. Life has been good to us and, I hope it has been good to you, too! We look forward to seeing everyone in September! |

For those (many) who may not remember me I was part of the group who called ourselves the Arlington Flower Children aka the hippies. After graduation I attended Trinity University, San Antionio, TX and American University, Washington, DC where I obtained a BA in German. I accidentally got into the software development field in 1976 first as a FORTRAN progammer then as a Quality Assurance Analyst and Tester. Moved to Nashville, TN in 1990 in search of a smaller town and slower pace of life. First visited Nashville in 1985, after a week-l0ng Old Time Music and Dance Camp in Black Mountain, NC, in order to visit my long-time friends, the members of the band Riders in the Sky. Have spent many evenings backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, lots of fun. Got into old-time music around 1975 and took up the banjo. In the early 1990's I ran into a guy in Nashville who had played in the band the Organic Cavemen. Remember them? I'm still living in Nashville and retired from IT three years ago. Brought my widowed mother up from Florida in 2001 to live with me when it became apparent she had Alzheimer's and was privileged to take care of her until she passed away in 2007. Really, really enjoying goofing off. Loved my years at Yorktown and looking forward to seeing lots of you guys at the reunion. Luv, Mare |

When I heard about the 50th Reunion event for the Class of ’68, I decided I wanted to be there to reunite with the classmates I had until 1966. After my year in Australia (’66-’67) I returned to join up with the class of ’69. This wasn’t an easy decision but made sense as I was a year younger than most of you and I needed the credits to apply for colleges. Other than my neighbor, Candy Cadman, I lost touch with you until a joint reunion about 25 or 30 years ago and then Facebook reconnected some of us. I’ve enjoyed reading the life summaries of those who have written.
After graduating in 1969 I left for Chatham College in Pittsburgh where I have lived ever since, except one year in Vermont and one year back in Arlington. I taught middle school PE and Health for four years and left because I didn’t like being a disciplinarian and I didn’t want to become a burned out teacher. I then got my MBA in Finance from Pitt and settled into four years of real estate finance with Mellon Bank but that wasn’t a good fit for me either. So back to Pitt for a PhD in Counseling Psychology which was a great fit. Phew! I still have a private practice working mostly with adults with trauma histories, couples, and a bit of executive coaching. I also own and help run a green cemetery with my husband, Pete. We started Penn Forest Natural Burial Park because we both wanted a green burial and there was no green cemetery in Pennsylvania. Now we live on 35 acres, just 13 miles from downtown Pittsburgh and have a barn with sheep, goats, ducks, bunnies, chickens and a donkey. Oh and two dogs and a cat. There is a lot more life than death on the land, which I prefer.
I spent 23 years in relationships with women and had two great kids. Emma earned her PhD in Art History and is a curator of contemporary art at Smith College Museum of Art. Nick works for the City of Pittsburgh Planning Dept and is working on a Masters of Public Management at Carnegie Mellon University. Pete and I have been together for 15 years (we met on match.com); his daughter has 4 kids so I get to do some occasional grandparenting.
My brother lives in the family home near Old Dominion Dr, and my sister lives in Westover, so I get back to Arlington several times a year. I have regular reunions with Candace Cadman, Linda Deem Jennings, and Susie McIntosh. I am very grateful that I got a good education in Arlington and lived in the best neighborhood ever. My memories of the class of “68 include the Moo Pals (Jamestown, 6th grade); navigating puberty; Kennedy being shot (I’m pretty sure I was in 8th grade math class); getting to be the first girl hall patrol in 9th grade because I lobbied Ralph Janoschka successfully; cheerleading at Williamsburg; and flunking 10th grade biology one grading period because I was talking to Charlie McDonald and Skip Simpson too much. So even though I didn’t graduate with you I grew up with you. Looking forward to seeing you and learning more about your life’s adventures at the reunion! Much appreciation for the organizers! |

Hello from Dallas. Entered West Point (with Jim and Rick) in June '68. Tim & Robert introduced me to Becky Baldwin in August '71. Graduated June 72, married in July '72 and reported to Andrews AFB, MD (yes I went Air Force). Became the Base Community Planner while completing a Master of Urban & Regional Planning at GWU at night. Becky worked as a paralegal during the day and completed a Master in Ed (Guidance and Counseling) at George Mason at night. What were we thinking! Left the Air Force June '77 and went to work at the North Central Texas Council of Governments in the DFW, TX area (you marry a Texan, you move to Texas). Transitioned out of planning into commercial real estate fianance in '84 and been at it for 34 years. Our children are 7th generation Texans. Two are married, one with two grandchildren living in Aspen Hill, MD so we get up to the DC area two or three times yearly. Responding to a call, I served for two years (2008-2010) on a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Diyala Province, Iraq, Went as a civilian subject matter expert (planning) but spent the majority of my time engaged in Tribal Reconciliation work. Amazing experience. My folks transferred to Hawaii right after our graduation in '68, came back to Arlington in '71 and retired from the Air Force in '74. They then both engaged in residential sales for another 30+ years. They are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Becky & I are looking forward to seeing old friends soon. And thank you for all those who put this together. Forever grateful! |

Comment: You probably remember me as "Candy." But in my late 30's, I started climbing the Corporate Ladder and decided "Candace" might make a bigger salary than "Candy." At 65, I am learning to answer to either name. I guess I've aged into an average little old lady, only not so little, not so old, and not so lady-like. I'm much happier since "retiring" to Florida and getting back into the horse business. I have so enjoyed reconnecting with so many of my high school friends! Looking forward to hearing from so many more, and -- better yet -- seeing y'all at our 50th reunioin. And a big thanks to the team putting together this Web site and the reunion. |

Retired from the Bureau of Labor Statistics where I was a quasi economist & semi statistician working on the Producer Price Index. Enjoying retirement! Keeping busy so much I wonder how I ever got anything done on a personal level when I was working as I still feel like there are not enough hours in the day. Friends tell me I am not really retired as my full time job is watching sports. Not totally accurate, but I do have season tickets, (some partial plans), for the Redskins, Capitals, Nationals & Orioles. My greatest love in the sports watching vein is following my alma mater the University of Kentucky. I live & die with them in that I generally live during basketball season only to die during football season. I spend a great deal of time exercising (including playing wallyball). In a sense this is second nature to me, but also I feel by staying active physically I have a better chance to have a good quality of life as I get older, fully recognizing that Old Man Time is undefeated. I hope everyone including your extended family feels BLESSED, (especially with your health), from our YHS Class of '68. May everyone feel that they have lived to the point that "when the moment comes you can say I did it all. " |
