Attended YHS only my junior year and back to Alaska to graduate. I often recall how well I was treated by many of you resulting in my time at YHS being one of the highlights of my life. Have always wanted to attend a class reunion but being in the fish business, summer is a very hectic time. Don't know how many will remember me but, I surely remember many of you.(must be the fish oil.) Plan on attending in September. |

My husband and I currently live in Seven Lakes, NC, which is 14 miles west of Pinehurst, NC. I retired after 40 years of service as a Revenue Officer with the Internal Revenue Service. My last post of duty was Greenville, NC. I currently belong to the League of Women Voters. I am a poll worker for the Moore County Board of Elections and I sing with the Moore County Choral Society. During the tax filing season, I work for H & R Block preparing tax returns. I met my husband, Lee, in 1968 at the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC. We have been married for 49 years. Lee is retired after a career as a college music professor and fine arts administrator. We have a daughter, Erin, who is completing her masters degree in Art History and Museum Studies at the University of Georgia. She recently became engaged and will be married next year. |

Comment: After receiveing a B.A. in Government at UVa in 1972, I worked for Arlington County for a year in the office of the Commissioner of Revenue. Then worked for IBM in various administrative capacities from 1973 until a major downsizing in 1994. I married in 1981 and adopted my wife's daughter, Angie. I earned a J.D. in 1986 and practiced personal injury law in 1995-96. Wasn't crazy about it. In 1996, I started and ran a business serving the airline industry that I co-owned with my brothers Steve and Mike, and sister Michel (all Yorktown grads). Also in 1996, I married my current wife, Nga. I sold the business in 2000, was a stay-at-home father for a few years when Nga gave birth to our son Vinh in 2002. When she gave birth to our daughter Vi in 2005, I found a job at Public Citizen. From 2007-2010, I served as legal coordinator/staff attorney at the American Humanist Association advocating on behalf of the constitutional principle of separation of church and state. I've been working on a book for the last 8 years on the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ten Commandments program (visit my website at EaglesMonuments.com). Now retired and regularly play basketball at James Lee Community Center in Falls Church and tennis at Jefferson District Park. |

Amazing what the Reunion Committee has done, not only with the Web Site, but also tracking me down personally. So much for Witness Protection. After YHS I went on to UT Knoxville, undergrad & UT Memphis for dental school. I married a lovely Ft Lauderdale girl, and a Navy commitment sent us to Camp Lejeune, N.C. (U-rah). After a short time in private practice in Manassas, we packed up again, with 3 kids, and went back in the Navy. First we were sent to Yuma, AZ, then after 2 ship tours (including Desert Storm) I had shore time in Norfolk. The last 20+ years I have been in private practice in Blacksburg, VA. and was also priviledged to serve as VT Team Dentist (Go Hokies). We are now planning retirement with another short move to Lynchburg (where the 4 grandkids are) and also to our Smith Mountain Lake house (where the fish are). |

Comment: We are retired to St.George, Utah after nearly 25 years in the San Francisco area, where I worked as a commercial actress and model. Previous to that we lived in London, England, Seattle, and Seoul, Korea. Still happily married to Steve after 42 years with 2 daughters, one son and a dozen amazing grandchildren. Steve and I are currently preparing to serve an 18 month mission for our Church in Seoul, Korea, but will be back in plenty of time to be at the 50th Reunion in 2018! Can't wait to see all of you!! |

Hello Yorktown classmates and thanks to all of you who helped organize this reunion. I’ve lived in the Winchester Virginia area since the mid eighties and still zip over the mountains and into Tysons or DC fairly frequently. I retired from teaching a couple of years ago - first French and then third grade at Powhatan, a small independent K-8 school. I had the fun of teaching my own two children there and then watching two of my grandchildren begin their schooling while I was still teaching. Still substitute occasionally to keep an eye on them. My two children are both raising their families nearby. One is a doctor and the other is in land trusts and conservation. Naturally a certain amount of my time involves child and pet sitting! Haven’t really kept in touch with anyone except my oldest friend, Rhonnie Powell - now Butler who lives in Ottawa. We both went through Jamestown and Williamsburg together, but missed most of Yorktown, though I was there for my senior year. Hope to see some other faces from the past this fall. Thanks Suzie for tracking me down.

Comment: I retired after 40 years developing environmental and energy policy, regulations, and legislation for the Enviornmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. I currently do some environmental consulting. I am also enjoying pursuing my love of travelling and seeing the world with Yorktown and other friends, and playing racquetball, walleyball and golf. I have been married for 44 years and have three wonderful sons, two daughters-in law, and three granddogs. |

Where did all these years go??? Yikes! It is quite evident that a lot of thought and effort has gone into the planning of our 50th reunion and the construction of this website! Thanks to all of you who have been doing the work! I have really enjoyed reading the online profiles. It is interesting to see that there are lots of common threads through our stories and lots of different paths that we have taken. Unlike many of you, I did not arrive in Arlington until my 10th grade year. At that point, it was my eleventh move as a child. Yes, a military family member! After Yorktown, I went to Wilson College (Time Magazine wrote that year that students who went to Wilson were the seven sister rejects!). During school breaks, I worked at Powhatan (skilled nursing facility) where I met my husband, Larry. Not a patient! He was working there while he was going to college. We got married my junior year and have been married 46 years. Since I vowed never to marry someone in the military because of the moving, I assumed that we would stay in the DC area. Fourteen moves later… Larry worked for the Veterans Administration and so our moves were tied to his career as a hospital administrator. I worked in education as a teacher, administrator and later worked as a teacher trainer in various states and school districts. During one of our times back in the DC area, I taught as an adjunct professor at GWU while teaching at McLean High School. I was also affiliated with the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning and spent many years working with them on teacher training and research. I am glad I chose the profession and am glad to be out now! Larry and I are now retired in Pawleys Island, SC. We enjoy boating, golfing, crabbing and fishing (Larry not me!). While he fishes, I volunteer at the Family Justice Center whose mission is to support victims of domestic violence. We also spend quite a bit of time traveling. We come to DC often as my parents live in Potomac Falls and Jim, my brother, (Class of 1971) is in Vienna. Abby Sandling (Snell) and I get together frequently. Last summer, while at the ocean for a few days, we promised each other we would do our profiles when we got home! We didn’t! Last week, when we were together, we vowed to get them done by the weekend! So here it is! See all of you at the reunion! |
