Oray Nicolai

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Occupation: Mortgage Banker
Comment: 50 Years! After High School I'm one of the few that didn't go to College. Started in the Mortgage Business in 1970 and have been doing the same since except one year off for bad behavior!

At the age of 38 I finally made it to the Professional Bowlers Tour. Some of you might remember i started the 1st and probably only Bowling Club at Yorktown. Realized getting a paycheck was more important than living my dream I went back to the Mortgage Business!

I'm now very happily married to a beautiful woman (my age) from Argentina. She convinced me to relocate to Miami to be near her Grandchildren. That was late last year. Best thing I ever did!

We live in a townhouse on the Intercoastal and I still go to work every day.

Thanks for tracking me down. I hope to attend next year!

Plum Nobles (Peck)

Marital status: Divorced
Children: 2
Comment: LOVE this website! Thanks for all the hard work the committee has put into making this so very special!

I moved South over 45 years ago and have lived in the same home in Germantown, TN for over 30 years. I have two children - Brent, 45, Paige, 31, and one granddaughter, Reagan, who is a freshman at Auburn.

I keep busy in a garden club, wine club, and play waaaaay more than my share of tennis! There IS a perk to turning 65 last year! Our ladies 65  tennis team is headed to Nationals in May 2017! So very blessed to have good health!

I love to travel and have met up with YHS girlfriends over the years. Quite the opportunity to see various parts of  the country AND catch up with forever friends!  I look forward to traveling with more YHS grads in Spring 2017!

Wish I lived closer to Arlington to join in on all the reunion planning parties! Looks so Fun! Good Job!

All the Best! Plum

Bob Okerlund

Marital status: Widowed
Children: 2
Comment: After 6 motorcycles, two Jaguars, a Porche and a Triumph I have brused enough knuckles.  It was a lot easier working on submarines and aircraft carriers(if it had a reactor) but I am retired now (supervisory nuclear health physicist - nice title but nothing special)  My job was to train people to work with nuclear systems and radioactive material. (Note I do not walk sideways) Prior to the shipwork was an oceanographer but that took 6 months sea duty a year and my wife said no more even though we lived next to New Orleans.  Got out of travel for a while but I was sent to work at Pearl Harbor and then Crystal City for almost two years and my wife said no travel again.  Physics lab instructor at VCU prior to that - helped pay the bills.   So back here next to Virginia Beach (tourist season now so I stay away)

Turner Osler

Marital status: Married
Children: 1
Occupation: Professor emeritus, surgery
Comment:      I've been lucky so far;  still sort of have a job (emeritus professor, department of surgery, University of Vermont; adjunct faculty, department of mathematics, UVM), happily married, one kid, one dog, one chicken, living on Lake Champlain, CEO of a startup (QOR360.com) that has a social mission.  But, as some Zen master observed: "It's all rented".  Turner

Gwen E. Ostrom (Ostrom)

Marital status: Divorced
Occupation: Retired
Comment:     Great thanks to the reunion committee.  After high school I received a BS in Interior Design from the University of Tennessee.  I moved to Miami, FL and worked as a commercial interior designer.  Later I moved to Rochester, NY where I live today.  I continued to work, received more education and switched fields.  I completed 38 years as an engineering mechanical designer before I retired 3 years ago.  Now, I spend my time kayaking through forested streams, photographing nature, creating watercolor paintings, entering art shows, traveling espically to Martha's Vineyard, fulfilling my interest in spirituality, and caring for the people I love.  I have been part of a creative modern dance group for 40 years and am grateful to be healthy.  I will be at the reunion.

Dave Ott

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Occupation: Government retiree
Comment: Retired from the Army as both a soldier and civilian, with a BA and MA in English.  Married with four kids, had great times around the world, with stints in Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Oklahoma (twice), Virginia (twice), Thailand, Korea, Germany (twice) and Italy (thrice, for 30+ years  total), specializing mostly in Field Artillery and Human Resources.  I now work in our olive orchard in the Veneto hills and help with our *tiny* rental apartment in Venice, and travel with my wife of almost 40 years to visit our scattered “children” and any art museum we can find.

Sharon Overstreet (Lewis)

Comment: After high school, I went to Ferrum (at that time) Junior College. Graduated in 1970. Went to work for Columbia Federal Savings and Loan in downtown DC.  After a year, I went to work for  C&P Phone company as a drafting clerk in Arlington.  In August 1973, I took a leave of absence from work and took a trip that I'd always wanted to do - Left Arlington going north to Canada to around Gaspe Penninsula - across Canada to the Canadian Rockies, back to the US at Glacier National Park, and down to Yellowstone. Then across Idaho and Oregon and down the coast on the Coastal Highway to the Redwoods and San Francisco.  Met Dan and Todd (my brothers) at Lake Tahoe.  Todd had an apartment there, planning to work through the winter.  I went on to Sequioa & Yosemite then across the Mojave Desert to Arizona and the Grand Canyon.  Had car trouble in the Grand Canyon which is how I met Ray Overstreet - he fixed it!  Started heading east, stopped at Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, went to Pass Christian Mississippi and New Orleans then back to work.

Ray & I got married the following January. We lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a few months and started a motorcycle trip from Key West to Main then across the US to San Diego. From there, we moved to Portland Oregon which is where I had our first child, Jeremy. Afte about 1 1/2 years, we went back to San Diego - Ray wanted to ride his motorcycle more than he could in rainy but very beautiful Oregon. In San Diego, I had our second child Gabriel (Gabe.)  After 5 years, we sold everything and move to Arkansas where Ray was from - near Texarkana.  Ray and both had asked Jesus to be our Lord and Savior and he wanted to share what Jesus had done for him with his family & friends and we didn't want to raise our boys in the big city environment.  So we have been in Lockesburg Arkansas since 1981.  Very small town - I can even get mail addressed like this: Sharon Overstreet - Down the road from Ed Thorton, Lockesburg, AR.

I love country small town living. When Jeremy (Jeri) turned 20, he was attending Texarkana College, & started having health problems (Gabe was in Kuwait with the National Guard.)  Jeremy found out he had cancer. He did chemo and went into remission. Gabe came home from Kuwait and got married not long after that. To make a long story short, Jeremy had cancer 2 more times and died from it in March 2011. During those years, Gabe and Jeri had a daughter and son. Preston is now 16 (almost 17 as she says) and a junior in high school and working at Sonic. Caleb is 11 (almost 12) and is in 6th grade. He doesn't like school much but loves football.

I have almost finished writing a book about how God worked in our lives during Geremy's fight with cancer. (Yeah, the girl who got a "D" in Senior English.)  It was amazing what went on during those times - sometimes Jeremy had insurance, sometimes he didn't.

I plan on being at the reunion. Ray can't come - he has too many health problems and can't make the trip. I just got a brand new knee - trying to get the new worn off before I get to the reunion!
