Lucy Ann Gidley

1950-10-16 2005-10-28
Lucy Ann Loveday Gidley died October 28, 2005 after a short battle with cancer at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, S.C., with her husband and children by her side.  She was born October 16, 1950 in Newport, R.I., a daughter of the late Capt. John Carrell Loveday, USN Retired and Myrleen Koehl Loveday, formerly of Carmel Valley California.

Mrs Gidley climbed trees in Montgomery Alabama, surfed in Coronado, California, recorder Bob Dylan songs in Virginia, wrote poetry in Colorado, taught her babies to swim in Carmichaels, found true love in Morgantown, W. Va., sailed in the Bahamas, snorkeled in the Florida Keys, and shared experience, strength and hope one day at a time everywhere for the last 15 years.

She was extraordinary in the everyday. Luminous, ingenuous eyes reflected joy and revealed in the depth of her kindness.  She was loved by all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel Paul Gidley of Clover S. C.; her children, Lucy Carrell Wood of Jersey City, N.J. and Charles John Wood of Meadville; her stepfamily Daniel and Tina Gidley and Sara Gidley; grandchildren, Ciera Daniel, Hayden and Kalianna, all of Morgantown; her sister, Carrell Lynne Evans of Sydney, Mont.; and her aunt, Ruby Loveday Rogan of Lexington, KY.
