Annette Fries Mundy of Greensboro, NC passed away on March 3, 2022 after a sudden illness, surrounded by her loving family.Annette was born on October 12, 1949 in Washington, D.C. Her parents were George E. and Holly B. Fries of Arlington, VA. Annette attended Yorktown High School in Arlington, where she was on the swimming and diving teams, and competed in diving at the international level. Annette attended Dunbarton College and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in psychology. She received a master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa. Annette worked as a child abuse investigator, founded a shelter for abused women, and was a family and marriage counselor specializing in the treatment of children from divorced families and abusive environments.

Annette was a wonderful mother and wife. She was intelligent, warm, friendly, and outgoing. She was a world traveler and made friends wherever she went. She was an avid member of her garden club and a master gardener with a passion for plants of all kinds. Annette took particular joy in cultivating her home garden, community garden plot, and prized collection of lemon trees. She loved being outdoors. She took delight in the companionship of her many beloved cats and dogs. She was vibrant and full of energy, beloved by neighbors, friends and family, and brought joy to those who knew her. She was a light that shined so brightly in our lives

Annette is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Dr. John C. Mundy; daughter, Katharine Kyle Mundy (Benjamin Wolff); son, William Christian Mundy (Sarah Coppotelli); and sisters Mary Beth Bowers of Staunton, VA, Julie Bowers Liskey of Bridgewater, VA, Sherri Reed of Alexandria, VA, and Wendy Davis of Vienna, VA; and a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro, NC at 1pm on Monday, March 14, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on March 30, 2022 at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA.
