I didn't know Jeff all that well, but I remember picking him up once as we went off to some party or bruhaha. He had that slight mysterious smile on most of the time. When the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Wall came through our little town, I made it a point to search his name out and trace his name out with the paper and pencil they give you. I still have that piece of parchment in a file around here somewhere, never to be thrown away. RIP brother, and, salutations.

Today 5/30/16 (Memorial Day) is a good day to remember Jeff Hoagland. I didn't know Jeff well. We smoked together in the boys bathroom. He was kind of a screw off. I know him better now than I did then. I am told he voluteered to go back to Vietnam a second time. Jeff was killed during that second tour. I was told by a man he served with that he was very brave and tried to help everyone else. Hard to imagine that jeff died so young as a hero, so that the rest of us could have so much.
