1949-07-01 2004-08-06
Josephine Adelaide Le Gal (Jody) Melcher Trumble died of lung cancer on Friday, August 6, 2004, at her home in Vienna, Virginia. She was 55 years old at the time of her death.
Jody was the daughter of Wayne Lee Paul Melcher (1919-2003) and Victoria Adelaide Peters (1919-1999). Her maternal grandparents were Herbert Erskine Peters ((1894-1989) and Josephine Adelaide Le Gal (1893-1948); paternal grandparents were Elbert Luke (Bert) Melcher (1886-1960) and Leota Blanche Lockhart (1895-1919).
Jody had five sisters, Leslie, Jan, Michele, Lindsay, and Shannon. Jody married Henry Thomas Trumble, Jr. (Tommy) in 1969. Jody and Henry had a son, Henry, III (Tommy). At the time of her death, Jody was survived by her former husband, son, sisters Leslie Conner, Jan Boothe, Michele Parker, Lindsay Nichols, and Shannon Stugeon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jody was born in Maynard Hospital in Seattle, Washington on July 1, 1949. She moved with her family in 1957 to Arlington, Virginia, where she grew up. Jody graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington in 1968.
Upon graduation, Jody started her career with the Naval Investigative Service and later with the Department of the Army's Military Traffic Management Command. In 1988, she went to work at the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals in Arlington, Virginia. She was a staff assistant to the Administrative Law Judges and was responsible for setting up and arranging for administrative hearings worldwide, scheduling court reporters and issuing decisions upon completion of the hearings. Jody remained in that position when her illness was diagnosed and progressed, working from home right up until the time of her death.
Jody was spirited and fun-loving, and a delight to her sisters, nieces and nephews, and other family. She loved going to the beach and was famous for the endless cups of coffee she enjoyed. She was very active in her son's athletic activities, and was the "proud momma" when her son followed his father and paternal grandfather into the law enforcement field as an Arlington County Police Officer.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington, Virginia. Interment services were held Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, Virginia. Arrangements were made by Murphy Funeral Home, Arlington, Virginia

Jody was a real go getter, just out of High School she marry my neighbor Tommy Trumble who was then a Detective for Arlinton County Police Force and became my neighbor. I met her later in life when I worked for Honeywell Computer at an Army facility in Arligton by then she was a Manager where she worked for the Army. I had been over at Naval Itelligence so many times I,'m surpriced I didn't her there, I will miss her.
