Phil Smith
1949-05-07 2006-07-16On Sunday, July 16, 2006, PHILIP C. SMITH of Richmond, VA, suddenly departed this life. He is survived by his only sister, Joan Hannan of Londonderry, NH; four nieces, Kristen Hannan, Kimberly Hannan, Laura Hartman, andKaren Smith; two nephews, Douglas Smith Jr. and Robert Smith. Also survived by a host of relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held at Little Falls Presbyterian Church, 6025 Little Falls Rd., Arlington, VA, on Saturday, August 5 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Phil's name to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or online at www.americanheart.org.
Phil was one of the guys I would hang with back in our Yorktown days. He was an exceptiopnal athlete and a really decent and easy going guy. I understand he went into Real Estate where I'm sure his natural abilities to make friends proved a major asset I understand that he married Gayle Palms, another alum. I last met her in 1971, I believe she was serving as a hostess at the Marriot Restaurant. It is my genuin hope that the time they spent together more than made up in quality for what it may have lacked in time.
