-Worked for MCI as a senior systems analyst -
-Worked for the National Park Service as a computer specialist/database admin
-Worked as a contract programmer for MCI, SAIC, and alot of other beltway bandits

-Spent the next few years day trading - made alot, lost more - double ugh.
-Had to find work - no one wanted my obselete skills - decided to go back to shop class lol
-Took woodworking courses, didn't dismember myself, worked with both of the big box outfits - millwork specialist - then sold exterior installations with both - then got into a pissing contest with the store manager (not a good idea).  Left the last big box retailer.  Now I'm sitting around and recontacting old acquaintances/friends.

Retired Married 3
We are retired to St.George, Utah after nearly 25 years in the San Francisco area, where I worked as a commercial actress and model. Previous to that we lived in London, England, Seattle, and Seoul, Korea. Still happily married to Steve after 42 years with 2 daughters, one son and a dozen amazing grandchildren. Steve and I are currently preparing to serve an 18 month mission for our Church in Seoul, Korea, but will be back in plenty of time to be at the 50th Reunion in 2018! Can't wait to see all of you!! Retired Married 4
Hi ,
Thanks to all that helped put this website and reunion together.
After graduation I spent the next 4 years  at Virginia Tech  trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I landed in the newspaper business, starting in Cincinnati and spending 43 years  in Pittsburgh, ending up as Director of the photo department at The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
I retired last year and moved with Beth, my second wife, to Bradenton Florida where I am getting back into biking (no hills!!) and kayaking (also no hills)
I am starting to get the hang of this retirement thing...
Regards to all,
Andy Starnes

Hello all. It is exciting to get back in touch. I am currently married with 2 bio children and 2 that I am lucky to have added to my life. While I am still working full-time, it is very possible that by the time our reunion happens I will be retired? Life is a curious thing and I have noticed that one never seems to know definitively. I stayed in the area; mostly in Arlingtion and 3 years ago moving to FFX. I am looking forward to  reconnecting.  Send Pamela a MessageSend Pamela a Message

Neurology Professor Northwestern Married 3
Seems like I'm one of the few people still working full-time.  What did I do wrong?  I went to Johns Hopkins undergrad and then UVa for Medical School.  Residency at U. Pittsburgh, Fellowship at Univ. Of Colorado and finally got a job at UW-Madison.  After 10 years there decamped for Northwestern's Med School.  I guess I finally learned how to keep a job since I've been here since 1992.  I've done a fair amount of clinical research focused on muscle and nerve and ALS.  No cures yet so I'm still employed.

Personally I've been married twice.  First marriage resulted in 3 children: son who is an IT specialist; daughter who is a chemical engineer and another daughter with a cancer biology PhD.  Second marriage has lasted 10 years and looks to keep right on going.  She is a rock-star federal judge on US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Math Teacher Married 2
I have had a wonderful and inauspicious life so far.  I teach High School Math and English at a residential treatment center, am very engaged with my Presbyterian church (a Deacon, etc.), and still swim 2 miles when I workout (however much, much slower than when I was on Yorktown's swim team).  I misplaced many of my unsavory habits through the years.  However, one exception is writing poetry.  My magnum opus has nearly 700 pages including an epic where the meter and rhyme scheme changes with each chapter and a 3 act play in verse.  My wife and I have two sons and two grand kids that we are with most days after school (i.e. craft supplies are a budget line item).

This website makes it so much fun to catch up with friends from high school and see how our lives have changed over the last 50 years.  Thank you to those who set it up and to the others coordinating the reunion events.  I graduated from Old Dominion University with a BS and later a MSEd.  I spent 35 years teaching or coordinating Human Resources in Virginia Beach, where I resided since college.  I've been married for 45 years and have 3 daughters who are all independent women with homes, great husbands and a son and daughter each.  I now spend half the year in Virginia Beach and the other half in Marco Island, FL (for 12 years we had a home in the Florida Keys, which was pretty special).  My interests have been all over the board: teaching line dance, playing mah jongg, scuba diving, reading, cooking, oil painting, fishing (I caught a 150 lb striped marlin and 125 lb swordfish), lots of world travel, and supporting my husband who's family boat business is over 70 years old.  Together, we manage a number of our own commercial properties, which sometimes interfere with retirement, but in turn support us.  I'm a pretty lucky girl with relatively good health and a wonderful family, especially my 6 Grands.  I will see you at the reunion! Retired teacher/Innkeeper/Troublemaker Committed Relationship 1
Greetings all! Thanks to those who put this together. I took the path less travelled to Alaska ('71-'75), returned to the country with the husband from hell where I worked on dairies, beef farms, in graphics, advertising and in multiple capacities for newspapers. Fired husband from hell in 1983. Single mom to one daughter living in Madison County. Gained a Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Theatre design/American Studies in '92. After my daughter was "safely" entrenched in college, I returned to grad school at U. VA. where I completed my M. Ed. and Ph.D. in Foundations of Ed. Held a couple admin jobs, Dir. Victim Witness Program in Madison, and Head Start for 8 surrounding counties. Bureaucracy doesn't suit me. Best of all, I was a sub-contract instructor at Woodberry Forest School in Set Design & Construction, and Psychology for 16 years. I've been happily unmarried to James Jarrell, Excavating Contractor/Farmer. We have run a herd of about 85 angus cattle up until recently - cut back to 25. We currently operate a small farm stay airbnb business which pays the taxes and guarantees visits from worldly guests year 'round. He has a boat load of kids and grand kids. I have 1 daughter, 1 granddaughter. We think we're retired, but we work harder now. Send Leri a MessageSend Leri a Message

Teacher Married 5
My many jobs throughout the years led me to my current position as a FACS (Home Ec) teacher.  I teach Fashion and Design (Sewing) and Nutrition and Wellness (cooking).  Mine is a much needed class as most of the students no nothing of the kitchen.  Look at what they are wearing and you can see why they need help there.
I am the mother of five children and we have 13 grandchildren.  Our vacations revolve around visiting one family or another as they are all over the country.
It's hard to believe it has been almost 50 years - time flies when you are having a life!

Hello,
I can't believe it's been nearly 50 years.  Great group picture on the web site. I recognized most of you. Looking good, people!  My wife (Kelly) and I live near Olney, MD.  We have two boys who are in their 20's and out of the house but return for free meals, now and then.  I'm enjoying retirement from FDA, after a 40 year career, and now have more time for  hiking, biking, and all sorts of other stuff.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.  This is a selfie taken by my son at the top of Old Rag Mtn.

Over the years, I’d been given to fantasize about this moment, upon occasion, how I would react, how I might attend.  A decade or so, the chances seemed quite bright for me to pull up in my ’59 De Soto, with Amanda the mannequin driving and an assortment of attractive young ladies piling out to greet my old classmates, but the maintenance on that car and that whole lifestyle grew wearisome.
“Yes, listen to the mathematician, and don’t think that mathematicians have no concern with women!  We are the land surveyors of their personal landscapes!”  Quite prophetic, wasn’t it.  So now, there is a piece of my computer code running on the navigational computer of every single ship on the high seas, complete with the procedural error I included in my lack of vision which no one would ever allow me to go back and fix, once it was discovered.
So of course I had to go back to peruse my copy of “The Grenadier, 1968”.  Yes, there were quite a few hazy stirrings of long-abandoned cobwebs deep in the recesses of my mind.
Maybe it was that all, all of our heroes were murdered, JFK, then Robert, then MLK, and finally adding insult to injury they even went after John Lennon.  Maybe it was that our hopes and dreams were so thoroughly shattered and abused in our earnest efforts to end a war that the USA ultimately lost anyway, and all the flowers are gone, and no one learned a thing.  Not only that but the former Camelot has steadily, inexorably, descended towards the chaos of evil empire and the prophetic novel of George Orwell, assigned in our English classes, has so devastatingly come to pass in the particulars as well as the generals.
Maybe it was that the two people I remember most dearly from Yorktown, the one has been dead now for over 40 years but her shadow still haunts me and the other has been banished from the realm after a hell most damnably unexpected.
By reading some of the fervent, sincere, and heart-felt comments written by my friends from that by-gone era, I recall that my individualism and non-conformism goes way, way back.  For a time I had my back turned on everything and everybody and was making detailed plans to relocate in Ethiopia.  Such was not meant to be.  I have since cobbled together a most unlikely life in a most unlikely locale and garnered bits of fame and fortune in the dirty down-and-out fading red neck railroad town.  I do little landlord duties and I back up (on tenor saxophone) a successful little black men’s gospel group that tours the state doing benefits, and I amuse myself with bits of wood and fabric that I call “art”.  I mentor and kid around with a young and beautiful, charming, witty Ethiopian woman who adopted me from the dusty streets of Debre Zeit 15 years ago.
So while I could perchance come to show off, I could easily in fact rent a limousine and fill it with lovely young female acquaintances delighted to participate in the joke.  But there has been so very much troubled water under the bridge…so very many different peoples coming in and out of my life, as the decades have gone by, as the miles and miles have been traversed … there are so few of you that I can remember well enough to ask any interested questions about your lives and what you have accomplished and what you have loved and enjoyed.
I am indeed here, in Brunswick, the armpit of the greater Washington area, and my doors are almost always unlocked, save when the bitter cold wind comes through chilling my bones.  I am turning my back against all things digital in the growing horror of how they are coming to be used.  I wish you all the best, have fun, party like there is no tomorrow, and drink to me a toast if you happen to remember anything good about me.  Come visit if you like, I’d be glad to see you.  I think that I will just stay here and keep the home fires burning until they will not burn anymore.
At least, through all of my trials and escapades, there is one little thing of which I can be proud and for which I hope I can be remembered.  I, for one, have never contributed to the ever-present and growing over population crisis on this planet.
            Best wishes,  John Tucker

I did in fact start my YHS senior year in September 1967, however, in October, it was suggested to me that "I would look better in GREEN than in in STRIPES" by a very insightful judge.  I joined the Marine Corps in Jan 1968 and was on my way to the war I had protested the summer before. I returned to Arlington in August 1969, hung out with Danny Babcock, Dywane Buhans and Chesley Barber.  I dated Gayle Palmes for a few weeks and asked her to marry me.  Two weeks later I got assigned to Marine Barracks Morocco.  Gayle wisely called it off.  I got married the first time to the mother of my now twp grown children; Angela now 46 and TJ now 41 both in Florida.  I did marry Gayle in 1982 and we lasted until 1988.  I stayed in the Corps for another 25 years married three more times.  Living in Kailua Kona Hawaii now. CIA retired Married 2
I am looking forward to attending the 50th class reunion.  Hope to see everyone there.  We are retired and living in McKinney, Texas - a suburb on the north side of Dallas.  My email is randall.weyandt@gmailo.com.  There are a lot of photos on my FB account.

I had one career as a personnel security specialist and have now retired (Spring 2010) from my second career with the CIA and moved to McKinney, Texas ( a suburb of Dallas).  While with the agency I had overseas tours In Thailand and Doha, Qatar.  Also had temporary duty travel to approximately 50 other countries.  Learned to speak Thai and Spanish fluently.  Really enjoyed the scuba diving in Thailand.  Right now I am settling into retirement and enjoying a ranch as a recreational property.   I am on Facebook as Randall A. Weyandt and there are a number of photos there.  My wife and I married in 1971 - still married.  We have two grown children that live near us.  My son works in internet security for a  large international bank.  My daughter has five degrees, her second M.S. and PhD. from the University of Chicago.  She is a research project director with Univ. of Texas Health Science Center a teaching hospital.  We have a miniature Schnauzer that is spoiled rotten and we wouldn't have it any other way.  I still see Terry Mulloy -Yorktown HS class of 1968 and we hunt together at the ranch.  Since college, my avocation has been Church History and the historical development of Christian doctrine.  Yeah, I know that is a couple steps away from my high school and early college lifestyle and interests.  I volunteer at Compass Hospice visiting older guys under hospice care.

My email is randalldotweyandtatgmaildotcom   I would love to hear from anyone that lives in the area or simply wants to catch up
