LOVE this website! Thanks for all the hard work the committee has put into making this so very special!
I moved South over 45 years ago and have lived in the same home in Germantown, TN for over 30 years. I have two children - Brent, 45, Paige, 31, and one granddaughter, Reagan, who is a freshman at Auburn.
I keep busy in a garden club, wine club, and play waaaaay more than my share of tennis! There IS a perk to turning 65 last year! Our ladies 65  tennis team is headed to Nationals in May 2017! So very blessed to have good health!
I love to travel and have met up with YHS girlfriends over the years. Quite the opportunity to see various parts of  the country AND catch up with forever friends!  I look forward to traveling with more YHS grads in Spring 2017!
Wish I lived closer to Arlington to join in on all the reunion planning parties! Looks so Fun! Good Job!
All the Best! Plum

Retired - World Bank Single 1
It’s been an amazing journey since YHS, made all the more meaningful by the friendships forged along the way.  I went Ohio University, studied in France my junior year, and received my MBA from George Washington University.  The majority of my career was spent at the World Bank working in the Middle East and Africa, mainly on public/private energy infrastructure projects.  I’m grateful to have travelled through Yemen, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon when these countries were safe.  Africa is also a fascinating continent, where my main assignments took me to Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Now that I’m retired, it’s the tennis court and golf course that consume most of my energy.  While travelling for work was fascinating,  it's the awsome adventures over the past several decades shared with wonderful YHS friends that I cherish the most.

Attended YHS only my junior year and back to Alaska to graduate.
I often recall how well I was treated by many of you resulting in my time at YHS being one of the highlights of my life. Have always wanted to attend a class reunion but being in the fish business, summer is a very hectic time.
Don't know how many will remember me but, I surely remember many of you.(must be the fish oil.)
 Plan on attending in September.

Retired Attorney www.eaglesmonuments.com Married 3
After receiveing a B.A. in Government at UVa in 1972, I worked for Arlington County for a year in the office of the Commissioner of Revenue. Then worked for IBM in various administrative capacities from 1973 until a major downsizing in 1994. I married in 1981 and adopted my wife's daughter, Angie. I earned a J.D. in 1986 and practiced personal injury law in 1995-96. Wasn't crazy about it. In 1996, I started and ran a business serving the airline industry that I co-owned with my brothers Steve and Mike, and sister Michel (all Yorktown grads). Also in 1996, I married my current wife, Nga. I sold the business in 2000, was a stay-at-home father for a few years when Nga gave birth to our son Vinh in 2002. When she gave birth to our daughter Vi in 2005, I found a job at Public Citizen. From 2007-2010, I served as legal coordinator/staff attorney at the American Humanist Association advocating on behalf of the constitutional principle of separation of church and state. I've been working on a book for the last 8 years on the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ten Commandments program (visit my website at EaglesMonuments.com). Now retired and regularly play basketball at James Lee Community Center in Falls Church and tennis at Jefferson District Park. Send Robert a MessageSend Robert a Message

What a long strange trip its been...Thanks to all for putting this together. Let's see; through it all I have remained married to Wendy Searle  (YHS'69), 3 great kids (all on their own payroll) and 4 awesome grand kids.  Recently retired from a myriad of occupations. Some men get 7 year itches with women, I seem to get it with professions. But it all turned out perfectly wonderful.  I stay  active with Golf, beach bumming, travel, volunteering and my new passion which is trying to hike part of the Appalachain Trail....but that's another story.

Stay very clse at least spiritually to my Jamaican brethren Yeonas, Gosnell and McAllister. Ya mon!!!

Wow- nearly 50 years. Thanks to all of you who have pulled this together!

Life continues to be a wonderful adventure. After studying at Davidson College (NC) and Germany (Marburg), Ruth and I got married and headed for Malawi (Africa).  When we returned, we have lived in Scottdale, PA ever since - southeast of Pittsburgh.  I got into publishing and bookselling - and ran bookstores for 30+ years.  After that I've been consulting and teaching folks to publish and run bookstores (much easier than actually doing it. ) - which has taken me around the world (not so many bookstores left in USA).
Meanwhile, I inherited the little family Christmas tree farm in Abingdon, VA where my youngest daughter lives with her family.  We're helping them build a straw-bale house there and having fun with Leroy (5) and Ember (3).

Ruth and I have been married 44 years this June. She's retiring this June after teaching high school German, so we'll be traveling between home, farm and our other kids (one in Milwaukee with his wife and two boys (8 & 13)), and our daughter who is in Edinburgh, Scotland.  Who knows what more adventures life will bring!

Meanwhile, we'll look forward to seeing all of you in September, 2018!

Functionally Retired Married 2
Well, I certainly am looking forward to our reunion!   Here is my story so far:  After Yorktown came four years of college (Princeton) and four more years of graduate school (Cornell).  Then a job as a research physicist at the Naval Research Laboratory. (It’s in DC right across the river from National Airport.)  It was supposed to be temporary, but somehow lasted 38 years.  I spent a lot of my time with high energy electron beams, either using them to develop new clean energy sources or to clean up existing ones.  I also explored ways to make better materials or make lasers shoot down missiles sent in by bad guys.

I married my trophy wife Barbara in 1977, and she still puts up with me despite the fact that I am not quite housebroken.  We have two kids and one grandkid.

I pride myself in having never owned a suit, a watch, or, for that matter, even a fancy phone. I am functionally retired now, so I spend most of my time tinkering with British cars (still), building a model railroad in the basement (even now), or revving up the grandkid.  But I do occasionally get involved in some sort of science experiment.

One last note:  On occasion I have been asked to write a brief biography.  Mine usually starts with..... “John Sethian graduated from Yorktown High School…..”

All my best to the Class of ’68

A hardy hello to my fellow classmates!  A review of our Reunion Web reveals what a robust class we have!  For me, it’s been a gratifying 50 years. Jennifer and Justin are the proud parents of two terrific kids, Michael and Emily. Regarding my schooling, I have obtained a BA, 2 MA’s, an AGD and a PHD from UNC, Radford, William and Mary, and Virginia Tech. Professionally, I have worked as a Psychologist,  University Professor, Organizational  Consultant and Corporate President. We lived in Virginia until 1982, Ohio for 19 years and currently reside near our children in a beach front home in Redondo Beach, CA. Thank you Reunion Committee for all your good work and I hope to see my classmates in the near future! Send John a MessageSend John a Message
