Candace Cadman (Clemens)
Horse Trainer as Retirement Gig www.barebackdressage.com Divorced 2You probably remember me as "Candy." But in my late 30's, I started climbing the Corporate Ladder and decided "Candace" might make a bigger salary than "Candy." At 65, I am learning to answer to either name. I guess I've aged into an average little old lady, only not so little, not so old, and not so lady-like. I'm much happier since "retiring" to Florida and getting back into the horse business. I have so enjoyed reconnecting with so many of my high school friends! Looking forward to hearing from so many more, and -- better yet -- seeing y'all at our 50th reunioin. And a big thanks to the team putting together this Web site and the reunion.

Software QA Analyst Retired SingleFor those (many) who may not remember me I was part of the group who called ourselves the Arlington Flower Children aka the hippies. After graduation I attended Trinity University, San Antionio, TX and American University, Washington, DC where I obtained a BA in German. I accidentally got into the software development field in 1976 first as a FORTRAN progammer then as a Quality Assurance Analyst and Tester.
Moved to Nashville, TN in 1990 in search of a smaller town and slower pace of life. First visited Nashville in 1985, after a week-l0ng Old Time Music and Dance Camp in Black Mountain, NC, in order to visit my long-time friends, the members of the band Riders in the Sky. Have spent many evenings backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, lots of fun. Got into old-time music around 1975 and took up the banjo. In the early 1990's I ran into a guy in Nashville who had played in the band the Organic Cavemen. Remember them?
I'm still living in Nashville and retired from IT three years ago. Brought my widowed mother up from Florida in 2001 to live with me when it became apparent she had Alzheimer's and was privileged to take care of her until she passed away in 2007.
Really, really enjoying goofing off. Loved my years at Yorktown and looking forward to seeing lots of you guys at the reunion. Luv, Mare

Realtor 3930Group.com Married 5Hard to believe it has been 50 years since we all graduated from Yorktown High School! Only the name remains the same after 50 years – the new school facility is so different from the Yorktown we all remember. The only part of the building that remains unchanged is the auditorium.
After graduating in 1968 I left for college in the west and graduated from Brigham Young University with a major in Fashion Merchandizing/Design. I had a custom dressmaking business for many years. I am married to John Bruce Wardle and have raised 5 children and 4 foster children here in Arlington. All of our children and foster children graduated from Yorktown High School. Our oldest daughter teaches 7th grade English at Williamsburg. Three of our 13 grandchildren attend Arlington County Schools. The oldest of the three is now a sophomore at Yorktown and plays both baseball and football and will graduate in 2018. I have served for about 10 years with the Family and Consumer Science Curriculum Committee (formerly Home Ec. and Tech Ed). I have also been active serving as a Den Leader for the Cub Scouts during the years that my sons and grandsons were Cub Scout age.
My husband owns Association Management Group a company that provides professional services for 18 Trade Associations here in the DC area. I have been an active real estate agent since the early ‘90’s and currently have my license with Buck & Associates. I have enjoyed the opportunity to remain connected with Susie Cooper Buck over the years. We remember fondly our French classes with Mr. Holt and chuckle that after all those French classes – we can barely decipher a French dinner menu! We probably should have taken Spanish – it would have been much more practical!

Enjoying retirement! Keeping busy so much I wonder how I ever got anything done on a personal level when I was working as I still feel like there are not enough hours in the day.
Friends tell me I am not really retired as my full time job is watching sports. Not totally accurate, but I do have season tickets, (some partial plans), for the Redskins, Capitals, Nationals & Orioles. My greatest love in the sports watching vein is following my alma mater the University of Kentucky. I live & die with them in that I generally live during basketball season only to die during football season.
I spend a great deal of time exercising (including playing wallyball). In a sense this is second nature to me, but also I feel by staying active physically I have a better chance to have a good quality of life as I get older, fully recognizing that Old Man Time is undefeated.
I hope everyone including your extended family feels BLESSED, (especially with your health), from our YHS Class of '68. May everyone feel that they have lived to the point that "when the moment comes you can say I did it all. "
Self Employed www.amazon.com/dp/1500740241 Married 7Yes, you saw that right. My wife, Lisa and I have had seven children together. After Yorktown, I took a little walk on the wild side. I went to Virginia Tech and took on the mantle of hippie and rock singer. I did finish Tech with a B.S. in Psychology, but my real passion was always to fly. I flew charters and small commuters for a number of years, but situations took me out of the flying realm and eventually into training for ministry, doing factory work and contracts to pay the bills.
Lisa and I have been married for 34 years this June, and our four girls and three boys are all enjoying successful careers and marriages. We are very proud of all of them.
I have recorded the era we all grew up in with a wild story called "From Woodstock To Eternity." It is on Amazon, and I promise you won't be bored. I have been looking forward to this reunion for a long time, and I just hope we can recognize each other and remember everybody's name.

housewife/volunteer Married 2Yes, I live in Arlington and walk Yorktown's track fairly often, a slave to my FitBit. Boy has the place changed from our day! Working on this Reunion has already fostered new friendships and brought out great memories. I have some old photos I can't wait to post but probably should get permission first from those who are in them. I would encourage everyone to register and begin connecting - it's a lot of fun.
I've been married to Bill Buck (nickname - Joe Buck) for close to 45 yrs. now. We raised 2 sons, one lives in Arlington with our 3 terrific grandchildren. Sadly our younger son lost his battle with depression and addiction in 2012 and we will always miss him terribly.
I taught high school English for a few years after college then became a full-time mom and volunteer. My most recent endeavor was nine years on the Board of Phoenix House, an addiction treatment center nationwide and here in Arlington, but I've just stepped down to make room for new blood. I love to make quilts, work out and attend deep water aerobics classes. Take a look at the Photo Album Tab to see pics from our first gathering of classmates in my backyard - we really needed name tags!! Since then we've had another party/meeting here and two more elsewhere. They were like mini-reunions! It doesn't take long to reconnect and people are so enthused.
I hope to connect with you all soon. Its like Christmas for us when we find another person who's added their Profile and there's been lots of fun chatter on our Facebook page too. Join the fun!

Landscape Architect cbaland.com Married 3Hello to all! It was fun to read the profiles.
I got my BA majoring in geology and then a Masters in Landscape Architecture. I started a Landscape Architecture design firm in 1985. We are now an office of seven landscape architects and 2 support staff in Cambridge, MA. We design parks, playgrounds, urban plazas, commerical landscapes, and landscapes for private residences.
I married Jim Batchelor in 1972. He's an architect and sometimes we work on projects together, which is always fun. Jim and I have three children (2 boys and 1 girl) and five grandchildren (4 boys and 1 girl). We've lived in Brookline since 1983 and before that we lived in Cambridge.
Over the years I've run into classmates from Yorktown and it's been great to see them. I hope to make it to the reunion. Thanks to all who have been putting this together.

Retired Divorced 1After graduation I went to work for the C & P Telephone Companies. In 1971 I moved to Ft. Lauderdale,Florida. There I met my ex-husband, John. In 1976 we had a son Robert John (Robbie). In 1977 I left Florida and moved to Locust Grove, Georgia. I worked for the State Of Georgia in Atlanta until I retired. Robbie made me a young Grandma, when his son Jacob was born in 1993. Robbie and his wife Shellie and their children, Griffin and Hayden, live 9 miles away so I get to see them often. Jacob is married and a Marine waiting to be deployed. I am looking forward to our 50th Reunion and excited about seeing everyone.

Business Development Manager-Catechem Married 2I have so enjoyed getting to know you all over again through your postings, and happily add my thanks to the inspired committee! Bruce and I have the reunion date on our calendars and look forward to the weekend. I apologize to Bruce in advance for poaching his profile, but we have known each other so long, I could hardly write mine without mentioning him.
From Yorktown I went to U of Illinois because my guidance counselor told me I wouldn't get in as an out of state resident and I had never been to Illinois. From our class to one of many thousands in the flattest place I had ever seen with freezing sleet winters, was too much for me. I transferred to Luther College in Iowa because Bruce was there and it seemed like a nice place. We graduated in 72 and came back to Virginia for Grad/Medical School. We married in 73, graduated in 76, and headed to Hawaii for B's internship and residency courtesy of the USArmy. Our 2 children were born there, and I sold real estate. Next stop was Wurzburg, Germany, then Springfield, VA, and then to Moorestown, NJ for 25 years, where I was determined to stay after the AirForce brat transient life, followed by our own. There I was on the school board, worked as a lobbyist, ran a consulting business, was an adjunct prof at Fairleigh Dickinson U, buried my parents, raised our kids, and stayed long enough to see the roses I planted grow and bloom for once.
Bruce grew miserable in his medical practice, so eventually we uprooted and moved to Iowa, a move We never anticipated. We timed it perfectly to coincide with the recession, so it took years to sell our NJ house, but we bought a farm in Iowa and have been restoring prairie and woodland, and I have bees. They are an excellent crop since they don't need me at all.
The move to Iowa meant leaving the roots we had put down, job, friends, and the house I thought I would leave in a box one day. A friend had a company selling on farm screenng tests for dairy animals, so I went to work for him, and eventually became North American Sales Manager for PortaCheck. I will be happy to discuss cow udders, the pros and cons of organic dairy products, the demise of the small American farm, etc., should anyone really want to. Really?! I recently took a new job with a Chemical product company based in Connecticut as Business Development Manager so I am re-learnIng Chemistry, which it turns out is more fun than cleaning my basement.
Our children are married, thriving, living in Michigan and California. We have 3 grandchildren 8, 6, and 5, plus the grand pets. We love traveling to see them, and will probably stay on the farm in Iowa as long as we can still manage our jobs and the travel.
Most frustrating for me as I read your profiles, was how often we were in shouting distance of each other, with no idea. I would have loved to get reacquainted sooner, but am enjoying this pre-reunion connection very much. If any of you have a hankering to visit Iowa, please get in touch and we would look forward to hosting you and smashing your preconceptions about 'fly-over' country.
